The fateful moment is (almost) arrived and for all its users, more or less frequent, Ryanair will change some things that will need to get used to.
We remind our customers that as of January 15, 2018, only those who have purchased Priority Boarding will be able to take two cabin baggage. All other customers will be able to bring the smallest cabin baggage to the cabin, while the larger (wheeled trolley) will be put in the hold at the boarding gate for free.
In this way it will be possible to speed up the boarding procedures and eliminate any delays. In addition, the new baggage policy offers our customers lower fares for checked baggage, increasing the allowed weight by 33% “.
These are the words of John F. Alborante, Sales & Marketing Manager Italy of Ryanair, which also invites all travelers to respect the new rules that will come into force in a few days in order to reduce the number of delays caused by too many customers arriving at the gate with 2 hand luggage
Priority Boarding
Despite the initial standards with which it had opened its routes around Europe, Ryanair in recent years, allowing its passengers to carry two bags, a 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm cabin baggage and bag, backpack or bag with a maximum size of 35 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm (rarely respected). Because of this, the company estimated unacceptable delays that weighed on flight schedules and related cancellations.
From January 15th, however, there will remain two baggage included in the price paid for the ticket but only those who purchase the priority boarding (including the Plus, Flexi Plus and Family Plus rates) will be able to bring the second baggage, the biggest , avoiding the rows to the luggage rollers and being able, therefore, to leave the airport as soon as possible. To all those who, on the contrary, have not bought the priority boarding, they will have to take their big hand baggage at the entrance of the plane, therefore, without going to the check-in desk, but proceeding directly to the gate. At the gate, passengers with priority boarding will be lined up in a different row.
Priority Boarding can be purchased for only € 5 at the time of booking, or added to the reservation at a cost of € 6 and can be purchased up to one hour before the departure of the flight.
The new rules governing boarding of baggage have also made some changes to hold baggage. From January 15, in fact, the checked baggage allowance at the check in will increase from 15 kg to 20 kg, and the standard rate will be reduced from € 35 to € 25. So, if you decide to board a baggage in the hold paying the deductible, you can take on more things by spending less.
